Two books, united by a common thread – their protagonists both grappling with terminal illnesses. Their tales steer clear of battling illness; instead, they're about learning to accept and come to terms with death while still living life to the fullest.
It might sound strange, but being really close to death can actually make you feel more alive. It's like a wake-up call; when you're in that situation, you have to pause your busy life and thoughts - and start thinking about what really matters and what life is all about.
From this introspection often springs a profound insight – the act of giving mirrors a life truly lived. This legacy persists, extending beyond one's own lifetime - afterall, wanting to be remembered, by many or just one, is a human trait that lingers even after life.
3 favourite quotes from the books respectively:
"Look, I'm going to find a way to be happy, and I'd really love to be happy with you, but if I can't be happy with you, then I'll find a way to be happy without you." - The Last Lecture
"Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted. And experience is often the most valuable thing you have to offer." - The Last Lecture
"We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand." - The Last Lecture
"Death ends a life, not a relationship. All the love you created is still there. All the memories are still there. You live on- in the hearts of everyone you have touched and nurtured while you were here." - Tuesdays with Morrie
"The truth is, once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." - Tuesdays with Morrie
"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." - Tuesdays with Morrie
